How we calculate this
We take the official PVPC hourly prices for mainland Spain from Red Eléctrica de España (REE), via the public REData API, and multiply them by the energy your charge draws from the grid. Charging from 20% to 80% of a 60 kWh battery adds about 36 kWh to the battery; home AC charging loses roughly 10% as heat, so the meter reads about 40 kWh. The cheapest window is the lowest-average block of consecutive hours long enough to fit the whole charge (about 7.4 kW on a typical home wallbox), so the saving is honest — you can't run a multi-hour charge in a single cheap hour.
The monthly figure assumes about 16 kWh per 100 km at the battery plus your charging losses, at your chosen yearly distance. These are typical values you can adjust above — we don't invent precision.

For everyday driving, charging to 80% is gentler on a lithium-ion battery and leaves headroom for regenerative braking; charge to 100% before a long trip. Because you draw fewer kWh, an 80% charge also costs less — set your usual charge levels above to see the difference.
Do these prices apply to my electricity tariff?
They are the regulated PVPC price (Precio Voluntario para el Pequeño Consumidor), which tracks the wholesale market hour by hour and covers homes with contracted power under 10 kW. On a fixed free-market rate your per-kWh price is flat, but the cheapest-hour pattern is still a useful guide to when to plug in.
